The Sustainable Development Committee of the Parliament had a field meeting on 8 February 2011 at Paks Nuclear Power Plant.
The members of the Committee were received by the management of Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd. During the meeting, Pál Kovács, Deputy State-Secretary in energetic, Sándor Nagy, Deputy Production Manager of the Hungarian Power Companies Ltd, and István Hamvas Chief Executive Officer, and István Radnóti, Safety Manager of Paks Nuclear Power Plant informed the Committee members of the operation, the environmental safety status, and the imminent service life extension of the power plant, the planned construction of new unit(s), and other environmental developments.
After this information session, the Committee members were invited to a plant tour and following this they went to Bátaapáti to visit the National Repository of Radioactive Wastes.
