Following the creation of WANO, the first Partner’s Investigation Programme was performed at Paks NPP in 1992, and the resit investigation was performed in 1995.
By the initiative of the Moscow Centre of WANO, in 2004 Paks NPP offered to submit itself to another Partner’s Investigation Programme by receiving once more the world team in 2005. This investigation was performed in November from 14 th to 25 th in 2005.
According to WANO directives for the Partner’s Investigation Programme, each investigation must be followed by another investigation after a period of 1.5 up to 2 years, which aim is to make sure that the power plant has successfully resolved all the deficiencies detected during the previous investigation.
After a preliminary agreement with the Moscow WANO Centre, the resit investigation was performed at Paks NPP in February from 18 th to 22nd in 2008.
The six members of the World Association investigated the same areas which were checked in 2005. The members of the World Association visited the sites, made controls and performed interviews.
During the WANO resit investigation in 2005, the experts suggested improvements in 19 areas (for instance: the communication of operating staff, equipment marking, operation of the chemical system of continuous analytic process, unifying managerial checking activity) so, the taken measures were appreciated. In all areas significant improvements were made as far as the execution of the measures and the effectiveness are concerned.
The investigating team found a positive experience as far as fire protection is concerned (the use of video teaching materials), and would like to put on WANO Internet Site as an example to be followed, and would suggest its application by the others power plants.
