Two times 1-week museum camps were organised by the Museum of Nuclear Energetic of MVM Paks Nuclear Power Plant Ltd as a reward for seventh-grader students living in member settlements of the Association for Social Control, Information, and Municipal Development. Young people, who are interested in science subjects and may be rewarded for their learning outcome, were selected for this free-of-charge residential camp.
After the huge success of the first initiation last year, the present two times 1-week camp were organised and managed for the second time by the staff members of the Museum. During the two periods from 22 to 26 June and 29 June to 3 July 2015, the participants, 27 and 25 students, were accommodated in the student hostel of the Vocational School of Energetics. Eventful programs were provided for the participants: they had the opportunity to make a sightseeing tour on bicycle around the city and to visit places of interest of Paks town and the Nuclear Power Plant. On Tuesdays, excursion to Balatonfüred and Tihany was organised for them. Bathing for the afternoons, cinema for the evenings, and one time a campfire event were included in the program.
The purpose of the museum camp this year was to create the opportunity for young people living both sides along the Danube in the neighbourhood of Paks Nuclear Power Plant to learn more about and get into closer acquaintance with the nuclear power plant as part of useful pastime. The company would like to enhance the interest of students, achieving excellent results of science subjects, in this area by their participation in such prize camps. This is also considered useful in accomplishing the long-term objectives of the domestic nuclear energetics.
